Masking Tape
3M have simplified the masking tape range for the industrial market inclusive of marine to allow for simple selection. Each tape below has specific characteristics based on common applications. For example, general purpose 2120 can be used for muliple non critical, room temperature type applications such as masking off areas in laquer spraying or deck caulking.

Waterproof Tape
A very popular multi-surface tape for marine applications, given its good balance between ultraviolet resistance and clean removability. Being an acrylic adhesive, crepe paper tape conforms well to most surfaces and can be used on curved areas. Can be left on most surfaces up to 14 days, even when exposed to direct sunlight. Bright blue colour makes this tape easy identifiable.
Specialist Tape
A blue vinyl plastic tape that is highly comfortable and is excellent for masking off areas for detailed boat and boot stripe painting. Also excellent for masking over rivets of aluminium boats. Colours: blue, red, green, black, white and yellow.

An extremely soft foil tape with a highly reflective backing that provides excellent radiation for both heat and light. Used as a mask or protective surface in paint stripping operations, as well as in electroplating. Also used for general sealing, metal patching, moisture barrier and heat reflecting. Long aging both indoors and outdoors.
3M™ Damping Foil 2552 consists of a room temperature pressure sensitive viscoelastic polymer on a dead soft aluminium foil and is designed for application to vibrating panels and supporting members. The combination viscoelastic polymer and an aluminium foil backing (a constrained layer damper, or CLD) has proved to be a unique construction with exceptional ability to control resonant vibrations in the temperature range of 0°C to 60°C, with survivability from -32°C to 80°C.
